Project overview

Created by Manna Technology, NEXUS: The Time Observer is a 15-minute mixed-reality narrative experience that transforms the abstract concept of time and the evolvement of timepieces into an embodied journey of observation, discovery and interaction.

Across seven chapters, participants become “Time Observers,” tracing humanity’s evolving relationship with time—from observing natural cycles and developing early timekeeping instruments, to mechanical time, cosmic scales, philosophies of temporality and speculative ideas about the origins of time.

Using Apple Vision Pro, the project combines cinematic spatial storytelling with intuitive interaction. Rather than receiving information passively, participants explore freely within a mixed-reality environment, where changes in perspective, physical movement and gestures actively advance the narrative. Abstract and invisible concepts are thus translated into spatial, sensory experiences that can be seen, heard and acted upon.

Designed for audiences across age groups, the experience uses visual wonder and intuitive interaction as accessible entry points, while offering deeper layers of science, history and philosophy. Ultimately, it seeks to expand how cultural aspect and intellectual subjects relating to watches can be communicated through emerging technology—inviting audiences not simply to learn about the development of timepieces, but to reconsider how they perceive time, themselves and the world around them.
