HM12 The Guardian
Project overview
HM12 The Guardian is a CGI film created for MB&F to introduce and celebrate a unique collaboration with L’Épée 1839: a sculptural watch-robot composed of more than 1,500 mechanical components. The project aimed to transform a highly complex object into an engaging visual narrative, revealing its craftsmanship, design ingenuity, and personality through a dynamic assembly sequence and immersive storytelling.
Targeting watch enthusiasts, design lovers, collectors, and creative audiences alike, the film combines the precision of contemporary horology with the playful nostalgia of 1980s and 1990s robot culture. Through detailed CGI, cinematic direction, and tactile sound design, it offers a level of clarity and emotional engagement that traditional product filmmaking cannot achieve.
The result is a sensory experience that balances technical excellence with imagination, inviting viewers not only to observe the object, but to feel immersed in its mechanics and discover the character behind the machine.
